Hi, I’m Chris and I’m the Senior Pastor at Belvidere Heights Baptist Church. I’m primarily responsible for the overall leadership of the church and for the teaching on Sunday. I seek to teach the Scriptures and equip people to reach their God given potential.

BASIC STUFF:

My wife Cheryl and I came to Belvidere in February 2010. We married right out of high school in North Little Rock, Ark. We have two daughters, Crystal and Cheri who are both married. I have two great son-in-laws, Zack and Lucas, and God has blessed us thus far with three grandchildren, Alaina, Alyvia, and Alex.
My love for the Belvidere Heights community and greater area began when I visited the area to look around after being contacted about the church. What great potential lies within the people in this area.

  • Life Verse – My life verse is the first verse my mother taught me as a child. Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 This verse has carried me through my life and inspires me to share this truth with others.
  • Enjoy most about ministry – I enjoy seeing people find purpose and meaning in their life through a growing relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

We have seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren and enjoy the huge family gatherings for holidays, birthdays, and other special days.

BIRTHDAY: April 7

EDUCATION: Business courses at Business Preparatory in Wichita, KS, graduated and obtained my first job in a financial institution. Attended community colleges here in the Kansas City area and Highland, Illinois.

INTERESTS & FAVORITES:

  • Places - I enjoy our two or three trips to Branson each year and we know all the good shows and restaurants. We’ve attended several spiritual retreats there the past few years. I spend a lot of time listening to the radio and hear great sermons from Chuck Swindoll, Tony Evans, Adrian Rogers, Charles Stanley and others.
  • Books/Audio - I read about anything I can get my hands on  - the library is on the left side of my recliner!
  • TV/Movies - I love to watch detective shows like CSI and have enjoyed the current series 24. I also watch news channels and biographies and get involved in some of the game shows, especially The Wheel of Fortune.
  • Music - I love all kinds of music – contemporary and especially gospel. The Gaithers are high on my list of favorite group singers. The late Anthony Burger who played for the Gaithers is my favorite pianist. He has been my inspiration through the years and I’ve was fortunate to meet him personally at one of his concerts. I have all his arrangements and CDs. Andy Williams, Josh Groban are high on my list as performers. There are many others!
  • Sports - My love for sports centers around our grandson Trevor who has proven himself in basketball, baseball, and football.
  • Life Verse: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13. This verse keeps coming back to me when I have feelings of inadequacy.
  • Enjoy most about ministry - I’ve enjoyed being involved in the Children’s Ministry in the churches I’ve attended through the years in Kansas, Illinois and here in Missouri. It has been a joy working with children and seeing them grow up in the Lord and serve as leaders in other churches. My position in the church office has been a blessing -- getting to know the people on a personal basis. Having been a member for such a long time has given me the advantage of knowing the complete history of the church and the families who have been members.

Zach Pyron - Co-worship leader

BASIC STUFF:

I have always had music in my life thanks to my mother, who played piano in every church we’ve ever been in, and to my dad, who taught me the first couple of chords on the guitar. As a teenager, I became involved in leading praise choruses at our church home in Arkansas. The LORD impressed on me a need to be in ministry before I shipped off to college in the rice and soybean fields of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. After completing my undergrad degree, God urged me to further my education by focusing on the original languages of His Word. So, here I am, in Kansas City, working on my master’s degree with hopes of graduating eventually.

My duties involve planning and leading corporate worship at Belvidere Heights with members of my new church family.

BIRTHDAY: November 29, 1985

EDUCATION:

B.A. in Biblical Studies from Williams Baptist College.

M.A. in Biblical Languages from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (in progress).

  • Sports Team – Though I’m not really into sports, I do enjoy playing golf. Since moving away from Arkansas, I have become a Razorbacks fan.
  • Hobbies – Listening to and playing music, watching movies, and hanging out with friends.
  • Enjoy most about ministry – My favorite part of ministry is building relationships with others within the church as part of growing the community of faith.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” – Colossians 3:16-17
